Analysis of deaths (SIM, Brazil’s mortality information system) and hospitalizations (SIH, the hospital information system) from circulatory diseases (ICD-10 I00–I99) and respiratory diseases (J00–J99) in the neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro state.

Data

  • Deaths: TabNet of the Rio de Janeiro City Health Department (2006 onward) and of the Rio de Janeiro State Health Department (all municipalities, neighborhoods from 2011).
  • Hospitalizations: hospital admission records (AIH) from SIH, located by the patient’s postal code. In 2023, 57% received a neighborhood.
  • Population and boundaries: 2022 Census (IBGE).

Methods

All data were obtained and organized with the localdatasus package and analyzed in PostgreSQL/PostGIS: - rates by neighborhood; - spatial autocorrelation (Moran’s I); - distance to the nearest hospital.
